Naamah

Naamah appears in Genesis as sister of Tubal-cain; in the kabbalistic tradition she is one of the four mothers of the qlippoth, patroness of song and craft.

The name appears in Gen. 4:22 — "sister of Tubal-cain." Greco-Jewish aggadic commentaries count Naamah among the first women artisans. In the Zohar she is consort of Shemhazai, mother of mingled spirits.

17th-century occult practice recasts Naamah as patroness of singing guilds — surviving amulets bear a double spiral and the letter "N.", once worn by Venetian opera companies.
